Biotage Endeavor replacement
Replace it with the H.E.L ChemSCAN range — parallel high-pressure catalyst screening without the 7 mL and 40 bar ceilings
The Biotage® Endeavor™ has been discontinued. If you run one, the question is no longer how it compares — it is what replaces it, and whether you take the chance to lift the limits you have been working around. Why replace your Endeavor
No new units are made
The Endeavor is discontinued. Spares, service and software support can only reduce from here, and an unsupported high-pressure instrument is hard to justify in a safety review.
Only Biotage makes the liners
Biotage’s own FAQ says the glass liners are “custom made for Biotage” — you cannot buy them anywhere else. On an instrument that is no longer made, that means when the liners run out, the instrument stops.
The limits cannot be raised
7 mL, 40 bar, no sampling and no cooling are built into the design. They are not settings you can turn up, and no upgrade raises them — so chemistry that outgrows them has to move to another instrument.

Two rows are worth reading honestly. On gas feed control Endeavor already regulates each vessel individually, which puts it level with ChemSCAN+ and ahead of SA and ChemSCAN. On temperature both reach 200 °C. The case for replacing it rests on scale, pressure, sampling, cooling and materials — not on every line of the table.
What you gain
From 7 mL to 400 mL
Endeavor tops out at 7 mL. ChemSCAN+ runs 2 – 400 mL on one platform, so conditions found at screening scale are confirmed at working scale without changing instrument.
40 bar becomes 200 bar
Endeavor’s relief valve releases at 40 bar. ChemSCAN+ runs to 100 bar as standard and 200 bar as an option — where much hydrogenation and carbonylation chemistry actually sits.
Sampling during the run
Endeavor has no sampling — you infer progress from gas uptake, or quench reactors at staggered times to imitate a time course. ChemSCAN vessels take a sampling port, so one experiment gives a real profile.
Cooling, not just heating
Endeavor has no active cooling; 200 °C to ambient is a couple of hours of passive decay. ChemSCAN reaches −40 °C with a circulator and controls the descent.
Hastelloy, not sole-source glass
ChemSCAN uses SS316 or Hastelloy C276 vessels rated to 200 bar and 350 °C — so corrosive and halide chemistry is in scope, and the consumable is not tied to one supplier.
